Sunrise Maternity Shoot

Welcome to THE BLOG. This is where we are going to share all our favourite little stories and events happening here at LouLou & the Moon. I wanted to start with a beautiful shoot from December, that is the inspiration behind THE BLOG.

I was contacted by a lovely foreign woman on Facebook interested in a model call. Unfortunately I had already found my model but after a few chats, Sarah ended up booking her Maternity shoot with me. Sarah chose the new Super Moon package, a souped up version of the old Harvest Moon package which is a 60-90 minute session, includes full free access to our beautiful client wardrobe, and comes with a digital gallery and x10 luxury prints in a pretty cotton envelope. The day arrived. Sarah braved a morning session on the longest day of the year - meaning sunrise was just after 4am! Sarah placed her full trust in me, allowing me to suggest locations. At the eleventh hour, my gut told me it was the wrong spot and to relocate a few hundred meters up the beach instead. We did, and the conditions were glorious. The world was still asleep. The air was warm and still. The animals were waking up. Birds were diving into the water, fishing for their breakfast directly behind Sarah. The more the sun creeped up, the more magical everything felt as the world began to wake up. What started with pastel blues and soft pinks, quickly turned into a bright golden glow, with a few small waves lapping in from the boast passing us by. Sarah was a dream to work with, and allowed me full creative reign. In her words, she said “You are the Artist, I am your Art.” Coming from an Art career into Photography, I felt these words deep in my soul and am so so grateful to have worked with such a gracious human being.

In editing I was blown away by the quiet and stillness of everything - and honestly, the pictures do not capture how beautiful the sunrise really was, but definitely there is an essence there of the morning. Seeing these images printed really moved me, and Im so glad that the Super Moon Package is now my most popular package, so you can enjoy receiving your images in print as well.

So far, no one I have ever roped into a sunrise session has regretted it. I also love the privacy of a morning shoot. Lots of people come out to enjoy out beautiful West facing sunsets, but something very soft and magical happens just out of the direct sunlight.
